Abstract

The present paper is devoted to an evaluation of the cancellation performance of a search radar in which Auto-Regressive spectral estimators are inserted; the parameters of the adopted autoregressive model must be estimated, with the limit that only a few samples of the received echoes can be used. This is due to the short term stationarity (both in azimuth and in range) of the clutters (environmental noise) which must be cancelled. So, the estimation accuracy and, consequently, the Improvement Factor, which can be obtained, are reduced when referred to the perfect estimation case. In the paper one type of clutter will be discussed and illustrated in detail.
