Saverio Cacopardi
Saverio Cacopardi is a retired professor at the University of Perugia, Italy.
From 2005 to 2011 he has been the director of the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering (DIEI) of the University of Perugia.
He is the lecturer for the courses of "Telecommunication systems" and "Satellite and Mobile Radio Communications" held at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Perugia.
After receiving the degree in electrical engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", he joined the SIP (Italian Telephone Operating Company), now Telecom-Italia, where, from 1971 to 1975, he was employed in the New Techniques Division, taking part to the definition and standardisation of European digital PCM hierarchy.
In 1975 he joined as an assistant professor the INFO-COM Department of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", where his research activity was addressed to radar signal processing and to GPS system applications.
From 1979 to 1985 he was associate professor of "Electrical Communications" at the University of Ancona and, from 1986 to 1991, associate professor of "Radio Aids to Navigation" at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".
In 1991 he became associate professor of "Electrical Communications" at the University of Perugia, and in 1999 Full Professor, at the same university.
One of his tasks is to coordinate the telecommunications research group in the field of mobile and satellite communication systems.
